How to read for kids Reading is probably the toughest part of the kid’s initial academics. The kid can sure speak but reading from a book can be a really tough challenge both for the parents and for the kid as well. However, it is very important to teach the kid to read and do it in the right way. All his pronunciations will be formed at this place, so they better be good. Before you start teaching your kid to read you must know that each kid different and will do things in their own time. Just because your friend’s child of the same age as your kid has started reading already does not mean that your child is obliged to that as well. You need to know your child and give him the time he needs. With that being said now we move on to the important part. How you can learn how to read for kids and how you can make the kid learn how to read. Well, it’s not rocket science. 1. Do it again and again The first thing that you would need to do is to be patient. Don’t expect your child to start repeating after you after one or two lessons because it is not going to happen. You will have to read the same thing again and again for several days and then the child may be able to read a word or two. 2. Don’t read a new thing every day It will be very confusing for the child and a lot of burdens too. The kid cannot learn a new word every day at such a young age. Read the same story again and again so that the kid starts recognizing the words and will be much better to be able to learn the pronunciations that he hears every day. 3. Read something that he likes Read the story that your child loves. Choose a book with some colors and fun images to keep the child interested in what he is doing. Because if the child loses interest that will be the worst thing to happen because the child himself would not be putting any effort, so he won’t be able to learn that fast and good. 4. Encourage participation Encourage your child to repeat after you. Ask him questions while reading, like ‘so where is the cat?”. This will keep the child engaged in the process and he will for sure enjoy it more. If you just keep reading and reading there are very little chances that your child is actually learning. Having good reading skills is very important for every kid because this is what he is going to be doing for the rest of his lives and he needs to be good at it.
